Description:

Eliquis 2.5 mg contains Apixaban, an oral anticoagulant (blood thinner) that helps prevent blood clots. It works by inhibiting Factor Xa, an essential protein in the blood clotting process, thereby reducing the risk of stroke, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Uses:

Eliquis 2.5 mg is prescribed for:

✔ Prevention of Stroke and Blood Clots in Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) – Used in non-valvular AFib to reduce stroke risk in high-risk patients.
✔ Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) & Pulmonary Embolism (PE) after Surgery – Helps prevent blood clots after hip or knee replacement surgery.
✔ Long-term Prevention of DVT/PE Recurrence – Used after initial treatment of DVT/PE to prevent recurrence.

Dosage & Administration:

• Prevention of Stroke in AFib (high-risk patients): 2.5 mg twice daily.

• Post-Surgical DVT/PE Prevention: 2.5 mg twice daily for 10–35 days after knee/hip replacement.

• Prevention of DVT/PE Recurrence (after initial treatment): 2.5 mg twice daily.

• Route of Administration: Oral – Swallow whole with or without food.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:
✔ Minor bleeding (nosebleeds, gum bleeding)
✔ Bruising easily
✔ Nausea
✔ Fatigue

Serious side effects (seek medical attention immediately):
