Description:

Rifagut 550 mg contains Rifaximin, a non-absorbable rifamycin antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria in the intestines. It is mainly used for treating bacterial infections in the digestive tract, particularly in conditions related to the gut and liver health.

Uses:

Rifagut 550 mg is prescribed for the treatment of:

✔ Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) – Helps prevent brain function deterioration due to liver disease.
✔ Irritable Bowel Syndrome with Diarrhea (IBS-D) – Manages symptoms of bloating, gas, and diarrhea.
✔ Traveler’s Diarrhea – Caused by Escherichia coli (E. coli) in adults and children.
✔ Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) – Reduces excessive bacterial growth in the intestines.
✔ Diverticular Disease – Used in some cases to control bacterial infections in the colon.

Dosage & Administration:

• Hepatic Encephalopathy: 550 mg twice daily

• Traveler’s Diarrhea & IBS-D: 550 mg three times daily for 14 days (or as prescribed).

• SIBO & Other Gut Infections: Dosage varies; consult a doctor.

• Route of Administration: Oral – Swallow whole with water, with or without food.
