Description:

Cosart 50 mg contains Losartan Potassium, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and protect the kidneys in patients with diabetes. It works by blocking angiotensin II, a substance that causes blood vessels to tighten, thereby relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Uses:

Cosart 50 mg is prescribed for:

✔ Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – Helps lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack.
✔ Chronic Kidney Disease (Diabetic Nephropathy) – Protects kidney function in diabetic patients with hypertension.
✔ Heart Failure (Adjunct Therapy) – Helps improve heart function and reduce symptoms.
✔ Stroke Prevention – Used in patients with an enlarged heart to lower the risk of stroke.

Dosage & Administration:

• Usual Adult Dose: 50 mg once daily, with or without food.

• Severe Hypertension or Higher Risk Patients: May be increased to 100 mg once daily, as prescribed by a doctor.

• Route of Administration: Oral – Take at the same time each day for best results.

• Do not crush or chew the tablet; swallow it whole with water.
